Air India Express Pilot Taken Off Duty After Assault Allegation at Delhi Airport

New Delhi, Dec 20 : An Air India Express pilot has been removed from active duty following serious allegations of assault made by a passenger at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1. The incident reportedly occurred during a heated argument over alleged queue-jumping at the airport.

According to the complaint, the passenger, Ankit Dewan, who was travelling with his family including his four-month-old infant, objected after noticing airport personnel allegedly allowing individuals to bypass the waiting line. Dewan claimed that during the confrontation, the pilot, identified as Captain Virender, verbally abused him before physically attacking him.

The passenger alleged that the altercation resulted in injuries and caused severe emotional distress to his family, particularly his young child who was present at the scene. The incident has raised concerns about passenger safety and professional conduct at busy airport terminals.

Responding to the allegations, Air India Express confirmed that it is aware of the complaint and has acted swiftly by removing the pilot from duty. The airline stated that an internal investigation has been initiated and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
