Amid the hustle of Dadar’s bustling flower market, eight-year-old Thanushka Raj Thatte sits on the footpath outside her makeshift plastic-sheet shelter, focused on her schoolbooks. A Class 3 student at Sharada Ashram Vidya Mandir (West), she proudly shares that she tops her class. Her fragile home offers little protection from Mumbai’s harsh sun and rain, yet her spirit remains unshaken.
Her parents, both flower vendors, work tirelessly to support her dreams. Between selling flowers, her mother also takes on part-time cleaning jobs at a nearby clinic—all to afford extra tuition for Thanushka’s education.
