Delhi Government Allows Green Crackers on Diwali Under Strict Timings and Restrictions
New Delhi, November 6 : Delhi Green Crackers Rules 2026 have been reinforced by the Delhi government ahead of Diwali, urging residents to follow Supreme Court guidelines on the sale and bursting of certified green firecrackers.
According to the Revenue Department, only CSIR-NEERI-certified green crackers will be permitted on November 7 and 8, 2026, during two designated time slots: 6 AM to 7 AM and 8 PM to 10 PM. Bursting crackers within 300 metres of hospitals, educational institutions, old-age homes and designated silence zones is strictly prohibited.
The government has restricted firecracker sales to authorised locations, requiring sealed packaging and valid QR codes for verification. Online sales and unauthorised vendors remain banned. Joint enforcement teams comprising Delhi Police and district officials will monitor compliance, with violations attracting confiscation and legal action.
The temporary relaxation will conclude on November 8, with the complete firecracker ban across Delhi-NCR returning from November 9, 2026.
