District Collector Mangan Anant Jain on Sunday visited the site where the Bailey Bridge over Phee Khola along the Phidang–Sangkalang route in Lower Dzongu was washed away following heavy overnight rainfall.
Accompanied by Superintendent of Police LB Chettri and the Officer Commanding of 107 RCC GREF, the District Collector conducted an on-site inspection to assess the extent of the damage caused by the swollen stream.
The Bailey Bridge, which served as a crucial link on the Phidang–Sangkalang route, was completely swept away due to the intense rainfall, disrupting vehicular movement and connectivity in the area.
Following the inspection, it was decided that 107 RCC GREF would immediately begin the process of relaunching a new Bailey Bridge. Officials informed that the restoration work is expected to be completed within one week, after which normal traffic movement on the route is likely to resume.
