Fire Reduces Elderly Man’s World to Ashes in Yangthang, Gyalshing District
Gyalshing: A devastating fire incident in Yangthang under Gyalshing district has reduced the lifetime possessions of an elderly man to ashes, leaving behind a story of loss and silent suffering.
All household belongings were completely gutted in the blaze. Memories accumulated over decades and the few supports that sustained his life were swallowed by the flames. Amid the ruins, however, the elderly man managed to save just one item—a book containing his own photograph along with that of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
Clutching the book tightly in his hands, the man was seen breaking down in helpless grief, a sight that moved onlookers deeply. The victim, 90-year-old Jang Bahadur Khatiwada, is physically frail and severely incapacitated due to old age.
He lived alone in a small hut, which was not just a house but his entire world and final shelter. With the fire destroying the hut, that world too has been taken away.
Today, all that remains with him are ashes, tears, and an unspoken pain.
