Matrimonial Fraud Allegations : Siliguri Police Take Action

Siliguri : NJP Police Station under the Siliguri Police Commissionerate has initiated an investigation into an alleged matrimonial fraud operation being run in the name of “Pawitrarishta” in Shaktigarh.

During a police raid at the premises, two staff members were detained for questioning. According to police, their interrogation allegedly revealed the involvement of their manager, Kakoli Biswas alias Arpita (40), who is suspected of collecting personal data of prospective victims, creating fake matrimonial profiles and allegedly inducing individuals to transfer money into different bank accounts.

Police also found alleged links between mobile numbers, email IDs and bank accounts associated with the premises and reported cyber-fraud incidents.

A specific case has been registered at NJP Police Station, and further investigation is currently underway.

The exact extent of the alleged fraud and the involvement of other individuals are being examined as part of the investigation.
