Neeraj Chopra Breaks 90-Meter Barrier with Record Throw, Finishes Second in Doha Diamond League

Doha, May 17 — Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra etched his name into the annals of athletics history by surpassing the coveted 90-meter mark in javelin throw, registering a personal best of 90.23 meters at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha. Despite the milestone performance, Chopra finished second behind Germany’s Julian Weber in a fiercely competitive showdown on Friday night.

Chopra achieved the historic feat in his third attempt, becoming only the 25th male athlete in the world to throw beyond 90 meters in the javelin discipline. The moment was a significant breakthrough in his career, as he had long been inching closer to this elite benchmark.

The event saw high-intensity performances, with Weber clinching the top spot with a throw that narrowly edged past Chopra’s mark. However, the Indian star’s achievement was the highlight of the evening, drawing global admiration and applause from the athletics community.

Neeraj’s entry into the exclusive 90-meter club not only cements his legacy among the greats of the sport but also sets a powerful precedent for Indian athletics on the world stage. With the Paris Olympics on the horizon, Chopra’s form promises thrilling prospects for Indian fans.
