Odisha Horror : Bank issues clarification after man brings sister's skeleton to branch to withdraw 20,000
Indian Overseas Bank issued a clarification after a man, Jitu Munda, went to their sponsored Odisha Grameen Bank branch carrying the skeleton of his sister to prove her death and withdraw 20,000.
It said Munda was drunk and became disruptive when told that death certificate is mandatory to withdraw money. We are coordinating for issuance of the certificate, it added.
The bank said the incident took place on April 27 at the Malliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Patna Block of Keonjhar district.
"Contrary to certain media reports, bank officials did not demand the physical presence of a deceased customer for withdrawal," the bank said.
