One Woman Arrested with Brown Sugar by Siliguri Police

Acting on credible source information, the plain cloth team of Matigara Police Station under Siliguri Police Commissionerate conducted a raid at Biswas Colony Rail Gate, under the jurisdiction of Matigara Police Station, District Darjeeling, on the afternoon of 26.10.2026.

During the operation, one woman, namely Mahenur Begum (28 years), a resident of Biswas Colony, near the mosque, Rail Gate, P.S. Matigara, District Darjeeling, was arrested. During the search, 27 grams of suspected brown sugar, one mobile phone and cash amounting to ₹600 were recovered from her possession and seized in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.

A case has been registered at Matigara Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The search, seizure and arrest were carried out in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Act. Further investigation is in progress.
