Parijat (1937–1993) was one of the most influential literary figures in Nepali literature. Born as Bishnu Kumari Waiba, she adopted the pen name Parijat and became widely known for her powerful writing that explored themes of human suffering, social injustice, gender inequality, and existential struggles.

Her most famous novel, Shirishko Phool, is considered a landmark in modern Nepali literature and won the Madan Puraskar in 1966.
Despite suffering from serious health problems and spending much of her life confined indoors, Parijat continued to produce remarkable poetry, essays, and novels that deeply influenced generations of writers and readers.

Today, she is remembered as a symbol of intellectual courage, feminist thought, and literary brilliance in Nepali-Gokhali community
