Robert Hall, Michael Woodford Win 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics
Stockholm, October 12: American economists Robert E. Hall and Michael Woodford have been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for developing macroeconomic models that help governments and central banks manage inflation, recessions and economic instability.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences recognised their contributions to understanding how household and business decisions influence the wider economy.
Hall, affiliated with Stanford University, and Woodford, a professor at Columbia University, will share the prize money of 12 million Swedish kronor, approximately $1.2 million.
Their research has strengthened modern economic policymaking by helping authorities respond more effectively to financial crises, economic fluctuations and changing consumer behaviour.
