A challenging rescue operation in Siliguri was successfully carried out late on September 2 after a man climbed onto a BSNL mobile tower.

Following several hours of coordinated efforts, a specialised five-member rescue team—comprising four trained Civil Defence Volunteers and an experienced mountain climber—managed to safely bring the man down at around 11:30 PM.

The operation involved around 25 Civil Defence Volunteers from Darjeeling District, along with coordinated support from the Siliguri Police Commissionerate, Fire Department, Forest QRT, Health Department and SDRF.

After being rescued, the man was immediately shifted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment.
