Sarathi 1.0 Boosts Anti-Drug Action in Pakyong with Distribution of Multi-Drug Testing Kits

Pakyong, Dec 2 : A major step in strengthening the fight against substance abuse was taken in Pakyong District as part of the state’s ongoing mission toward a “Nasha Mukta Sikkim.” In support of the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the district administration distributed 100 Multi-Drug Testing Kits to law enforcement officials on December 2.

The distribution was carried out by Shri Bishal Sharma, APS to the Chief Minister for Pakyong District, under the guidance of Shri Rohit Raj Gurung, Hon’ble Advisor to the Chief Minister. The kits were officially handed over to Shri Bikash Rai, SDPO Pakyong, and Shri Pradeep Chettri, SHO Pakyong.

Officials stated that the introduction of these drug-testing kits will significantly enhance field-level enforcement by enabling immediate and accurate detection of substance misuse during inspections, community engagements, and awareness efforts. The availability of such tools is expected to strengthen monitoring capacity and accelerate legal and preventive actions against drug-related offences.

The initiative falls under Sarathi 1.0, supported by Titan Co. Ltd., which aims to advance preventive strategies and expand awareness against drug abuse across Sikkim. Authorities expressed confidence that collaborative interventions like this will contribute meaningfully toward building a healthier and addiction-free community.
