Sikkim CM Halts Convoy to Honor Fallen Heroes on Martyrs' Day
TVS Report , 30 Jan : In a solemn gesture of respect, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters today by momentarily halting his official convoy to observe the national two-minute silence.
The observance took place on Martyrs’ Day (Shaheed Diwas), marked annually on January 30th to commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to honor the countless brave souls who laid down their lives for the nation's independence.
Breaking from the usual pace of official duties, the Chief Minister stopped his vehicle mid-journey to join the nation in reflection. In a statement regarding the tribute, CM Tamang described the pause as a "humble mark of respect and solidarity."
"This solemn act was in honour of the supreme sacrifice of our brave martyrs," the Chief Minister stated. He emphasized that the unparalleled courage and selfless devotion of these heroes not only laid the foundation for India’s freedom but continue to serve as a beacon of inspiration for future generations.
The Chief Minister’s spontaneous participation underscores the state’s deep commitment to honoring the legacy of those who fought for India's sovereignty.
