Vijay Meets PM Modi in Delhi, Flags Vande Mataram Dispute and Key Tamil Nadu Concerns
On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This was his first official visit to the national capital since he took office. The meeting comes at a time when political discussions are heating up surrounding the recent Vande Mataram controversy and various pending issues affecting the state.
Sources say Vijay brought up topics related to Tamil Nadu’s administrative and financial needs. He also addressed the debate that arose after Vande Mataram was played before the Tamil Nadu state anthem at a recent government event. The incident drew strong reactions from opposition parties and intensified political debates about state protocol and cultural identity.
In addition to the national song controversy, Vijay reportedly asked for more support from the Centre for infrastructure projects, welfare programs, and pending financial allocations for Tamil Nadu. The discussions also included inter-state issues, like the ongoing Mekedatu dam dispute and matters concerning fishermen.
Political observers are closely following this Delhi visit. It represents Vijay’s first significant interaction with the Union leadership since becoming Chief Minister. He is also expected to meet with senior Union ministers during his trip to strengthen coordination between the state and the Centre.
