Thane Man Catches Traffic Cops Breaking Same Rule They Fined Him For
Thane, October 28 : In an incident that has sparked public outrage, a 25-year-old resident of Wagle Estate was left astonished after spotting the same traffic police officers who had fined him moments earlier for not wearing a helmet, riding a scooter themselves without helmets and with a broken number plate.
The man, who had been penalized ₹1,000 for violating helmet laws, said he was shocked to see the officers disregarding the same rules they were enforcing. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the scooty’s number plate was partially damaged, making it difficult to read, further violating traffic norms.
Locals have expressed anger over what they see as blatant hypocrisy and misuse of power by the officers. “I was fined for not wearing a helmet, but the cops were doing the exact same thing minutes later. It’s like they think they’re above the law,” the young man said.
A video capturing the scene quickly went viral, garnering over 32,000 views within an hour of being posted on social media platform X by the popular handle ‘Ghar Ke Kalesh’.
Response from Police
DCP Traffic informed TOI that policemen are fined Rs 2000 for misusing friend's scooty without proper compliance , said appropriate action has been taken on both sides and further inquiry is underway based on video evidence.
