Two Persons Arrested with Brown Sugar and ₹6 Lakh Cash by Siliguri Police

Acting on specific source information, police team of Pradhan Nagar Police Station under Siliguri Police Commissionerate apprehended two persons during the intervening night of 17/18.10.2026.

The accused persons were identified as (i) Taslim Raja (27 years) and (ii) Sumit Mahato (21 years), both residents of Kaliaganj, District Uttar Dinajpur. During the search, 575.660 grams of suspected brown sugar and cash amounting to ₹6,00,000 were recovered from their joint possession and seized following due legal procedure.

One new Mahindra XUV700 vehicle was also seized. All search, seizure, and arrest procedures were carried out in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act.

In this connection, a case has been registered at Pradhan Nagar Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is in progress.
