BRO’s Project Swastik Opens Sanklang Modular Bridge, Reconnecting North Sikkim.
BRO’s Project Swastik opens the Sanklang Modular Bridge over River Teesta on 13 Aug 2025, restoring vital connectivity to Dzongu, Lachen & Lachung in #NorthSikkim. A lifeline reborn in the Dzongu Region! 🚧🇮🇳 #NationBuilding
North Sikkim, 13 August 2025 – The Border Roads Organisation’s 107 Road Construction Company (RCC) of HQ 758 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), under the HQ Chief Engineer, Project Swastik, has successfully opened the Sanklang Modular Bridge over the Teesta River to traffic, restoring a vital connectivity link in North Sikkim.
Constructed across the powerful Teesta under extreme high-flow conditions and unstable slopes, the bridge stands as a critical redundancy to the Mangan–Chungthang corridor, ensuring restored access to Dzongu, Lachen and Lachung.
The high-altitude project, executed under some of the harshest weather and terrain conditions, saw BRO engineers and personnel battle strong river currents, unstable riverbanks and complex logistics to deliver the bridge in record time.
With the opening of the bridge, essential supplies, emergency services, and tourism to the upper reaches of North Sikkim are expected to resume seamlessly, providing a significant boost to local livelihoods and regional stability.
