Busted: Mangan Police Take Down Husband-Wife Drug Syndicate in Major Heroin Seizure
Mangan, April 17 : In a major crackdown on the local narcotics trade, Mangan Police have successfully dismantled a suspected drug-peddling operation operating right in the heart of town. A husband and wife are now behind bars following a highly targeted raid that yielded both hard drugs and heavy cash.
The sting operation was spearheaded by Police Inspector Prashant Rai, the Station House Officer (SHO) for Mangan PS. Acting on solid intelligence, Rai and his task force descended upon a rented room located just a stone's throw from the local SBI Digital Bank. Inside the premises, law enforcement apprehended 34-year-old Amber Bahadur Chettri—who frequently operates under the aliases Amar or Prakash—alongside his 30-year-old wife, Reshmi Rai.
What the officers uncovered during the search made it abundantly clear that this wasn't a small-time gig. Investigators recovered exactly 70.21 grams of suspected brown sugar, a highly addictive and dangerous adulterated form of heroin.
Alongside the narcotics haul, police seized ₹2,31,990 in cash. Authorities strongly suspect this money represents the direct, illicit proceeds from the couple's street-level sales.
This latest high-stakes bust sends a decisive message to anyone attempting to set up an illicit shop in the region. Both individuals remain in police custody as authorities continue to dig into the deeper roots of their local supply chain.
