“Close the Borders, Fast”: Trump Blames Migrants as France Burns
New Delhi , October 19 : US President Donald Trump has blamed immigration for the violent unrest sweeping France, declaring on Truth Social on October 19 that “the migrants have taken over France” and urging the country to close its borders fast.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had warned President Emmanuel Macron to seal the borders when they first met, dismissed school-related grievances as the cause, and claimed Paris would soon become a Muslim city.
Vice President JD Vance echoed the view, accusing Western liberals of ignoring assimilation. French authorities have offered a different account, with Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reportedly blaming ultra-left radical groups.
The protests, which reportedly began weeks ago over teacher shortages, school funding and the cost of living, turned violent over the weekend, leading to reported mass arrests, injuries to police personnel and curfews in some areas, about six months ahead of France’s presidential election.
