Daily Wage Clerk's Salary Rs 15,000, Assets Worth Rs 30 Crore: Karnataka’s Ex-Clerk Owns 24 Houses, 40-Acre Farm Land & More...
Karnataka, July 31 : In a stunning revelation, a former clerk at the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) is under investigation after a Lokayukta raid uncovered assets worth over Rs 30 crore, far exceeding his modest daily wage salary.
The former employee, Kalakappa Nidagundi, who earned just Rs 15,000 a month, was found to possess a vast empire of wealth, including 24 residential houses, four land plots, and 40 acres of agricultural land. The properties were registered in his name, as well as those of his wife and brother-in-law.
Lokayukta officials also seized 350 grams of gold, 1.5 kilograms of silver, and four vehicles, including two cars. The raid was prompted by a complaint and authorized by a court order.
Nidagundi is accused of working with former KRIDL engineer ZM Chincholkar to misappropriate over Rs 72 crore. The duo allegedly fabricated documents and generated fake bills for 96 infrastructure projects that were never completed.
Koppal MLA K. Raghavendra Hitnal has assured the public that the government is taking the matter seriously and will conduct a thorough inquiry to ensure appropriate action is taken.
