The tech billionaire has become the first person in the world to amass a net worth exceeding $677 billion, according to Forbes. As of Monday afternoon, Musk’s total wealth was estimated at $677 billion, placing him far ahead of every other billionaire worldwide.
The major driver behind this extraordinary surge in wealth is Musk’s space exploration company, SpaceX. Reuters reports that SpaceX’s valuation has climbed to nearly $800 billion. With Musk holding around a 42 percent stake in the company, the jump in valuation alone has added roughly $168 billion to his personal fortune.
Just last October, Musk had crossed the $500 billion mark, becoming the first individual to do so. Within a few months, he has achieved yet another financial milestone. Analysts say growing expectations around a possible SpaceX initial public offering in 2026 have significantly boosted investor confidence, further increasing the company’s value and Musk’s wealth.
Alongside SpaceX, Musk’s electric vehicle company Tesla continues to contribute substantially to his net worth. Although Tesla has seen a slight decline in vehicle sales recently, its share price has risen by about 13 percent so far this year. Musk owns close to 12 percent of Tesla.
