Good News: Sikkim Government Increases DA and DR from 58% to 60% for Employees and Pensioners
Gangtok, October 1: In a welcome development for State Government employees and pensioners, the Government of Sikkim has announced an enhancement of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) from the existing 58% to 60%, effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
According to a circular issued by the Finance Department on October 1, the revision follows the State Government's decision based on the recommendations of the Pay Committee and is in continuation of the department's earlier circular dated October 7, 2025.
The enhanced DA will benefit State Government employees drawing salaries under the revised basic pay structure, while pensioners covered under the corresponding revised structure will receive Dearness Relief at the increased rate.
The revised allowance will also extend to contractual employees and staff of work-charged establishments drawing revised pay under the regular State Government pay scales.
For All India Service (AIS) officers continuing under the pre-revised pay band and grade pay structure of the 6th Central Pay Commission, the DA has been increased from 257% to 262%. Meanwhile, AIS officers drawing salaries under the revised basic pay structure of the 7th Central Pay Commission will receive DA at 60%, up from 58%. Both revisions will take effect from January 1, 2026.
The Finance Department has further clarified that fractions of 50 paise and above arising from the revised payments will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions below 50 paise will be disregarded.
The circular has been communicated to all Secretaries, Heads of Departments and other concerned authorities for necessary implementation and updating of the revised rates in the PRANALI system.
The revision represents a two-percentage-point increase in DA and DR for eligible employees and pensioners covered under the revised pay structure.
