GUWAHATI MURDER ACCUSED D!ES; POLICE ALLEGE ESCAPE ATTEMPT

Guwahati, September 14: Ramanuj Goswami, accused of murdering his wife Riya Talukdar, has reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained during an alleged escape attempt while being taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Regional media, citing police sources, reported that Goswami suffered a severe head injury after allegedly jumping from a moving police vehicle on Narakasur Hill early Monday.

Reportedly, he was being transported from Hatigaon to GMCH for a blood test around 3 am. The report also states that he had surrendered at Hatigaon Police Station two days after the alleged murder and was subsequently arrested.

Police said Goswami was not shot and attributed his fatal injuries to the fall. The precise sequence of events remains subject to further clarification; the alleged escape attempt is the police account.
