Imposter Claiming to Be Chief Minister of Odisha Arrested by Sadar Police Station

In a swift and coordinated operation, Sadar Police Station has arrested an individual impersonating the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha in a case of attempted fraud.

A verbal complaint was lodged at Sadar PS, Gangtok by Shri Tenzing Dorjee, Chairman, SIMFED, Government of Sikkim, stating that he had received a suspicious phone call from an unknown number. The caller falsely identified himself as the Chief Minister of Odisha and requested financial assistance for a purportedly needy individual. Sensing a possible fraud, Shri Dorjee promptly reported the matter to Sadar PS and strategically invited the impersonator to Gangtok under the pretext of offering help.

Acting on the information, a team from Sadar Police Station laid a trap and successfully apprehended the accused—identified as Abhijit Mondal, 25 years, resident of Howrah, West Bengal from Gangtok.

Preliminary investigation confirms the fraudulent intent of the accused, and further inquiry is underway to ascertain the extent of his criminal activities. The swift action of Sadar PS and the cooperation extended by Shri Tenzing Dorjee were instrumental in the successful arrest.
