Nationwide Covid-19 Mock Drill to Assess Hospital Readiness Amid Rising Cases
In response to the recent uptick in Covid-19 cases, the Union Ministry of Health is conducting a nationwide mock drill today to assess the preparedness of hospitals across India. According to a report by CNN-News18, the exercise aims to evaluate the current state of emergency infrastructure, particularly in light of active coronavirus cases surpassing the 4,000 mark.
The drill will focus on key aspects of hospital readiness, including oxygen supply systems, stock levels of essential medications, and the availability and functionality of ventilators. Major hospitals in various states will participate in the exercise to gauge their capacity to manage a potential surge in infections.
The decision to conduct the drill follows a series of high-level meetings led by Director General of Health Services, Dr. Sunita Sharma, who reviewed recent trends in Covid-19 infections and emphasized the need for proactive preparedness.
This coordinated move underscores the Centre's effort to ensure the healthcare system is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively should a new wave of infections emerge.
