NH-10 Night Traffic Closure at 20th Mile from October 29 to November 4; Alternative Routes Announced
Ranipool, October 29: NH-10 Night Traffic Closure at 20th Mile will remain in effect from October 29 to November 4, 2026, with vehicular movement restricted between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM daily. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Project Management Unit (PMU), Ranipool, has announced the temporary restrictions to facilitate emergency road works along the Rangpo–Singtam stretch.
According to an office order issued on October 28, the restrictions will apply at Km 60+180, commonly known as 20th Mile, on NH-10. The eight-hour nightly closure is intended to allow emergency restoration and road improvement works aimed at facilitating two-way vehicular movement while ensuring the safety of commuters and workers.
To minimise inconvenience, NHIDCL has identified alternative routes for vehicles travelling between Rangpo, Singtam and Gangtok. Light motor vehicles (LMVs) may use the Rangpo–Duga–Pendam–Singtam route or the Mamring–Namthang–Singtam–Gangtok route. Vehicles of all categories may alternatively travel through the Rangpo–Rorathang–Pakyong–Gangtok route.
The district administration has been requested to make necessary arrangements for traffic regulation and coordination to ensure smooth vehicular movement along the designated diversion routes during the restriction period.
The restrictions will remain effective until 5:00 AM on November 4, 2026, unless withdrawn or modified earlier by the competent authority. Commuters travelling between Rangpo, Singtam and Gangtok, particularly during nighttime hours, are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow traffic instructions issued by the authorities.
The temporary closure is expected to facilitate essential road works along this important highway connecting Sikkim with neighbouring West Bengal.
