Pakyong–Ranipool Road to Face Scheduled Closures Till September 19 for Hill-Cutting Work
Pakyong, September 10: The Pakyong District Police has issued a traffic regulation and diversion order for the Ranipool–Pakyong stretch of NH-717A, announcing scheduled road closures between September 9 and September 19, 2026, to facilitate ongoing hill-cutting work.
According to the order issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Pakyong District, the restriction has been imposed following a request from Bhavya Construction for road closure between 3rd Mile and 6th Mile, near Macleod, Lower Aho (Giri Dara).
The police said the temporary restrictions are necessary in the larger public interest to facilitate the road works while ensuring safer and smoother traffic movement.
Road Opening and Closure Timings
The order specifies the following daily traffic schedule from September 9 to September 19:
8:30 AM to 11:00 AM — OPEN
11:00 AM to 3:00 PM — CLOSED
3:00 PM to 5:30 PM — OPEN
5:30 PM to 8:00 PM — CLOSED
8:00 PM to 8:30 AM — OPEN
The restrictions apply to all light and heavy vehicles, including two-wheelers.
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles and other vehicles engaged in emergency duties, have been exempted from the restriction.
Alternate Routes Announced
During the closure periods, heavy vehicles have been advised to travel via Assam Lingzey Fatak near Seti Pool–Assam Lingzey–Shanti Turning–Pakyong Bazar.
For light and medium vehicles, the alternate route will be from Aho Fatak via Upper Aho to Andheri Fatak, or through Changay–Shanti Turning.
The construction company has also been directed to deploy personnel equipped with safety helmets, jackets, whistles and red flags at both ends of the affected road during the work. Signboards displaying the road opening and closure timings must also be installed.
Commuters travelling between Ranipool and Pakyong have been advised to plan their journeys according to the notified timings and use the designated alternate routes during closure hours.
