PIB Fact Check: Viral Garbage-Dumping Video Linked to CJP Delhi Protest Is From Haryana
New Delhi, October 10: A viral video claiming to show municipal trucks dumping garbage on Delhi roads to obstruct Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters near Jantar Mantar has been identified as footage from an earlier incident in Haryana.
According to a fact-check by PIB, the video was recorded on August 17, 2026, during a sanitation workers’ protest at Samidhan Chowk on GT Road in Panipat, Haryana.
The footage circulated ahead of the October 10 CJP demonstration in Delhi, with social media posts alleging that garbage was deliberately dumped to prevent protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar.
However, the video does not establish those allegations. It depicts a separate protest in Panipat nearly two months earlier.
Fact-check verdict: Misleading context. The footage is unrelated to the October 10 Delhi protest. This does not independently establish whether any separate garbage dumping occurred in Delhi.
The findings were also reported by Aaj Tak on October 10, 2026, which identified a Panipat landmark visible in the footage and traced an earlier social media upload.
