Two Civic Volunteers Arrested in Haringhata for Allegedly Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe
Two civic volunteers attached to the District Intelligence Branch (DIB) office in Haringhata, West Bengal, were arrested on Monday after the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) allegedly caught them accepting a ₹10,000 bribe, officials said.
The arrests followed a complaint filed by a resident of the Nimtala Bazar area in Nadia district. According to the complaint, the two civic volunteers allegedly demanded ₹10,000 from the resident in connection with the processing of passport verification.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and allegedly caught the two civic volunteers while accepting the bribe. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
