Two-Week Ultimatum: UGC Warns Private Universities Over Missing Public Disclosures

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released an updated roster of State Private Universities that have not fulfilled mandatory disclosure obligations as per Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956. The institutions in question have failed to upload the required Public Self-Disclosure data to their official web portals.

The public notice, issued under the signature of UGC Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi, names universities across several states, specifically citing institutions in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

These institutions have been directed by the UGC to complete the necessary disclosures within two weeks of the notice's publication. Failure to adhere to this directive may trigger disciplinary measures under the UGC Act, 1956, and the UGC (Establishment and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities) Regulations, 2003.

Defaulters in Sikkim Include:
1. Sikkim Alpine University (Formerly EIILM University), South Sikkim – 737126
2. Sikkim International University, Sribadam, West Sikkim – 737121
3. Sikkim Skill University, Namthang, South Sikkim – 737137

The UGC clarified that this list is an expansion of an earlier public notice dated September 24, 2025, emphasizing its commitment to continuing strict oversight to ensure all private universities maintain transparency and comply with disclosure standards.
