West Bengal Government Announces DA Hike to 38% from October 1

The West Bengal government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, raising it to 38% from October 1, 2026.

The decision was announced by Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta while presenting the 2026–27 state Budget in the Assembly on June 22. The latest notification formally confirms the implementation of the revised DA rate.

The hike is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of state government employees amid rising living costs. Along with employees, state government pensioners will also benefit, with Dearness Relief (DR) set to increase by 20 percentage points from October 1.

The revised allowance will be reflected in the salaries and pension benefits payable from the effective date.
