₹5 Lakh ‘Guess Paper’ Scam Rocks NEET 2026: Mastermind, 4 Aspirants Arrested in Dehradun
New Delhi, May 12 : The NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal is growing. Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested an alleged mastermind and four NEET aspirants in Dehradun in a significant effort to tackle the exam fraud network.
Investigators say the main suspect is a career counsellor from Sikar, now based in Dehradun. He reportedly sold leaked NEET question papers under the guise of “guess papers” to medical aspirants for large amounts of money. Reports indicate that this material contained about 410 questions, with nearly 150 appearing in the actual NEET exam on May 3.
Police believe the suspect accessed potential questions before the paper was printed, raising serious concerns about a larger nationwide scheme within India’s examination system. Initially, aspirants allegedly paid up to ₹5 lakh for the leaked materials. However, the price dropped significantly as the exam date drew near.
The four arrested aspirants are accused of buying the leaked papers, and investigators are currently questioning them in Rajasthan. Authorities suspect this network may extend across several states, with investigations looking into possible connections in Kerala, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
The scandal has sparked significant outrage nationwide after the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled NEET-UG 2026 amid increasing evidence of widespread malpractice and allegations of paper leaks. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now handling the case as pressure mounts for strict action against the so-called “exam mafia” accused of jeopardizing the futures of thousands of students.
With each new arrest, serious concerns are raised about the credibility and security of India’s most crucial competitive exams.
