Meerut, October 15: A Meerut court has sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her partner, Sahil Shukla, to dea*th for murdering her husband, Saurabh Rajput, in the widely reported “blue drum” mur*der case.

District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra pronounced the sentence on October 14, following their conviction on September 30. Rajput’s dismembered body had been concealed in a blue drum filled with cement.

The judge reportedly discarded the pen used to sign the judgment, drawing attention to a symbolic practice associated with de*ath sentences. The gesture is commonly described as reflecting the gravity of taking a life through judicial punishment; it does not establish the judge’s personal reasons for discarding the pen.
