Delhi Begins Deportation of 160 Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals via Tripura Route

In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, Indian authorities have initiated the deportation of around 160 Bangladeshi nationals from Delhi. According to official sources, the individuals will be flown from Hindon airbase to Tripura on a special aircraft, after which they will be escorted by road to the Bangladesh border for repatriation.

This move comes amid intensified surveillance following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, with Delhi Police identifying nearly 470 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the city in recent months. Many of those deported had either infiltrated into India without valid documents or overstayed their visas.

Among the latest batch of deportees, most are undocumented migrants who had settled across various parts of Delhi. Earlier today, four more Bangladeshi nationals were detained from the Narela area by the Inter-State Cell of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. The detained individuals—identified as Hafijul (19), Mominul (21), Shamim (22), and Inamul (38)—are originally from Rangpur, Bangladesh.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Harsh Indora, the arrests followed a month-long surveillance and intelligence operation. The men had no valid identity documents and admitted to entering India illegally as children along with their parents, who have since returned to Bangladesh. They had reportedly been moving across cities such as Bahadurgarh, Sonipat, Ghaziabad, and Behror to evade detection and had been living in informal settlements.

None of the four detainees have any legal ties or relatives in India, and all are now in custody at a designated detention centre pending legal deportation procedures.
