Delhi Police Detain 5 Bangladeshi Nationals for Alleged Visa Overstay; Deportation Process Begins

New Delhi, May 30 : Delhi Police have detained five Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying in India after their visas expired. This took place during a verification drive in the Mukherjee Nagar area of the capital.

The action started after local residents alerted the police about a minor dispute nearby. During the inquiry, officers grew suspicious after overhearing conversations in Bangla. This prompted them to verify the individuals' identities.

Police later tracked the individuals to a rented place in Indira Vikas Colony. Investigators discovered that all five had entered India legally by air on different occasions but had overstayed after their visas expired.

Officials stated these men had come to Delhi in search of job opportunities in Greece. However, after waiting several months for interviews and job offers, they continued to stay in India despite their visas lapsing.

The investigation showed that the group had initially stayed in various hotels before moving into their rented house. Police are also looking for a person from West Bengal who allegedly helped them find accommodation after their visas expired.

The detainees have been brought before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), and deportation proceedings are ongoing. Authorities confirmed that enforcement actions against illegal immigration and visa violations will continue throughout Delhi.
