In a shocking case from Rajkot, Gujarat, a 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly m*rdering his live-in partner after discovering that the "woman" he met on social media and treated as his wife was actually a man.
Police say the accused, Piyush Kumar, met "Poonam" through Facebook and Instagram — accounts allegedly run by Chandan Kumar, who posed as a woman for nearly three years. The two lived together as a couple, with Chandan reportedly avoiding intimacy by citing religious vows.
When the truth came out, Piyush fled — but Chandan allegedly tracked him across UP and Rajasthan to a factory in Rajkot. On June 21, after a heated argument, police say Piyush attacked Chandan with stones near a railway track, hid the body, and calmly returned to finish his factory shift.
The decomposed body found near Muscat Phatak was first treated as an accident — until the post-mortem revealed the truth. CCTV footage cracked the case. The accused has confessed, police say.
A chilling reminder: online identities can hide deadly secrets.
