India Extends Operation Sindhu to Rescue Nepal, Sri Lanka Citizens from Iran

Amid escalating Israel-Iran clashes, India’s Operation Sindhu, launched to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran, now includes citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka following their governments’ requests.
Over 827 Indians, mainly students, have been safely brought back to New Delhi via special flights from Mashhad and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, as of June 21, 2025.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran is coordinating with emergency helplines and Telegram to ensure safe evacuations amid Iran’s airspace restrictions and ongoing missile exchanges. India’s humanitarian gesture highlights its regional leadership in crisis response.
