Nepal Issues Fresh High Alert Along Bhote Koshi and Trishuli Rivers
Kathmandu, August 28: Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has issued a fresh public warning, urging people living along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors to remain on high alert amid fears of another sudden flood.
According to the official notice, authorities have received information that water flow in the Bhote Koshi River has increased again, while there remains a risk of further flooding.
People living along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli riverbanks, those involved in rescue and relief operations, and others currently staying in vulnerable areas have been advised to exercise extreme caution.
The disaster management authority has particularly urged people in areas exposed to possible flooding to immediately move to safer locations if the situation becomes dangerous.
The latest alert comes following the devastating flash flood that struck the Nepal-Tibet border region on August 26, causing widespread destruction in Rasuwa and settlements along the Bhote Koshi river corridor.
Authorities continue to closely monitor the rivers and upstream areas as rescue, relief and recovery operations remain underway.
The public warning was issued by Shanti Mahat, Under-Secretary and Spokesperson of Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
