NHIDCL Announces Three-Day Traffic Closure on NH10 at 20th Mile for Emergency Repair Works
Gangtok, July 17: The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has announced a temporary closure of traffic movement on a section of NH10 between Rangpo and Ranipool to facilitate emergency restoration work at the landslide-prone 20th Mile (Bardang).
According to an official order issued by the Highway Administrator of NH10, traffic for all categories of vehicles will remain suspended on the affected stretch from July 17 to July 19, 2026 (three days).
The order states that the restriction has been imposed under Section 33 of the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002, due to anticipated traffic congestion and safety concerns arising from the ongoing emergency works.
The temporary closure will be enforced at Km 60.180, 20th Mile (Bardang), where restoration and slope stabilization work is underway following repeated landslide-related disruptions.
Authorities have urged commuters and transport operators to cooperate with the temporary traffic restrictions and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
