SHOCKING CONDITION OF JAN SEWA BHAWAN WASHROOM JUST DAYS AFTER HANDOVER

A video going viral on social media has raised serious concern over the pathetic condition of a washroom at the newly handed-over Jan Sewa Bhawan at Lumsey, Tadong.

It was only last week that Jan Sewa Bhawan was officially handed over for public use. Yet, the condition seen in the viral video is deeply distressing and disappointing.

Public infrastructure is built with public money and ultimately belongs to the people. No matter how modern or well-equipped a facility is, it cannot remain clean and functional unless those using it also take responsibility for protecting it.

If this condition has indeed been caused by careless public use, it raises a painful question: What is the point of demanding better public infrastructure if we are unwilling to take care of it?

Government agencies have a responsibility to maintain public facilities, but citizens have an equally important civic responsibility to use them properly.

A good building can be constructed with money. A sense of civic responsibility cannot.
