Trump says Iran war 'terminated,' as war powers deadline arrives
US President Donald Trump declared that ceasefire "terminated" hostilities against Iran, as he sought to strengthen his argument that he doesn't need lawmakers' permission to continue the conflict.
In a letter to congressional leaders, Trump said fighting effectively ended after a truce ordered on April 7 was extended.
His 60-day deadline to seek approval from the legislative branch has ended.
