IMD Weather Forecast: Very Heavy Rain Alert for Sikkim, West Bengal and Bihar on October 30
Gangtok, October 30: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places across Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on Friday, October 30, 2026.
According to the IMD bulletin issued on October 29, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected across the region until October 31. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are also likely.
The forecast raises concerns about possible landslides, slippery mountain roads and localised flooding in vulnerable areas. Residents, tourists and motorists are advised to remain cautious and follow official weather and road advisories.
Rainfall activity is expected to decrease from November 1, although isolated showers may continue until November 4.
