India fast-tracks four Chenab hydropower projects, raising pressure on Pakistan’s water flows
After Manohar Lal Khattar's two-day visit, India is accelerating four hydropower projects on the Chenab River system in J&K.
Officials have been directed to commission Pakal Dul and Kiru by December 2026, finish Kwar by March 2028, and speed up work on Ratle.
This follows India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, heightening Pakistan's concerns about reduced downstream water flows.
