India’s active Covid-19 caseload has risen to 2,710 as of May 30, marking an increase of 511 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to official data. The nationwide death toll attributed to the virus since January 1, 2025, has now reached 22, with seven fatalities reported in the past day.

Kerala continues to report the highest number of active infections, with 1,147 ongoing cases and 227 new ones added in a single day. Maharashtra is the second most-affected state, currently managing 424 cases after detecting 40 new infections. Delhi has also seen a surge, registering 56 fresh cases and pushing its active tally to 294.

The country recorded 255 recoveries or patient migrations within the same 24-hour window. This brings the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the year to 1,170. Kerala reported 72 recoveries, Delhi 77, and Maharashtra 34 — the highest among all states for the day.

The day’s fatalities were distributed across several states. Maharashtra reported two Covid-linked deaths. One involved a 67-year-old male patient with complications including ARDS, pneumonia, and underlying conditions like diabetes and hypertension. The second was a 21-year-old male with diabetic ketoacidosis and a respiratory infection, later confirmed as Covid-related.

Tamil Nadu recorded the death of a 60-year-old male suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease.

In Karnataka, a 70-year-old man died from acute cardio-respiratory arrest with multiple comorbidities; the confirmation of Covid-19 through RT-PCR is pending.

Delhi reported one fatality — a 60-year-old woman who died from an acute intestinal obstruction post-surgery, with Covid-19 detected incidentally.

One death was recorded in Gujarat, though detailed information is awaited. Punjab reported the death of a 39-year-old man with Hepatitis B and acute respiratory issues.

Kerala, despite being the most affected in terms of active cases, has reported no new deaths. However, health officials noted that an audit of death records is still underway to reconcile any discrepancies.
