Hats-Off : Pema Lhamu Sherpa Donates One Month’s Salary for Nepal Flood Relief

Singtam, Sep 9 : Havaldar Pema Lhamu Sherpa, a traffic policewoman posted at Singtam Police Station, has donated one month’s salary to support relief efforts for flood victims in Nepal, continuing her longstanding commitment to helping communities affected by disasters.

Her contribution comes as floods and landslides have damaged homes and displaced families in Nepal, leaving affected communities in need of assistance.

Sherpa has extended support during earlier disasters as well. In 2023, she contributed ₹1.05 lakh towards relief for victims of Sikkim’s flash floods. On another occasion, she provided relief materials to landslide-affected residents of North Sikkim.

These contributions reflect her involvement in social service beyond her police duties and have earned her appreciation among people in Sikkim.

By contributing a month’s earnings to Nepal’s relief efforts, Sherpa has offered another gesture of solidarity with communities facing hardship across the Himalayan region.
